Additional attributes we are looking for include:
- Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated flexibility, patience, initiative and emotional resilience.
- Strong communication and rapport building skills
- Prior experience in mental health, supporting or working with those who are experiencing vulnerability in the community
- Confident to facilitate group work and also work 1:1 with visitors promoting a strength-based and client-centred recovery model of care.
We take appropriate actions to ensure that our staff and the people we support are as safe as possible. You will be expected to adhere to all OHS standards, requirements and processes, including (but not limited to) wearing appropriate PPE and regular hygiene and cleanliness practices.
About the Role
This role works as part of our team of highly skilled Mental Health Workers and in collaboration with the Clinical Multidisciplinary Team, including Psychiatrists, Psychologist OT, Social Worker, Peer Support team and Nurses. Ngootyoong PARC consists of an 8 bed short term, 5 bed extended stay option and a day program. This role will deliver individualised recovery orientated care. As a Mental Health Worker you will enable rather than do, to promote independence, development and confidence of individuals. Our success will enable them to have the voice and choice to thrive in their local communities.
In addition this role entails:
- Assessment of individuals with a mental health nurse to determine suitability for PARC
- Delivering strength-based group content that is curated to the cohort of an ever-changing visitor group
- Developing collaborative risk management and mitigation plans
- Enhancing and promoting links with supports in the community, empowering connection
- Developing recovery goals and implementation steps to achieve set goals
- Supporting planning and review, directing support and exit planning
Potential shifts may include the following Monday - Sunday inclusive:
7am - 3pm, 1:30pm - 9:30pm, 8am - 2pm, and a sleepover shift that includes 3:30pm - 10:30pm & 6:30am - 7:30pm the following morning.
Suitable candidates will need to be available for a variety of shifts including overnight and weekends.
It is a requirement of this position to meet all compliance requirements concerning NDIS Work Screening, Working With Children's Check, work rights and possess a current & valid driver’s licence.
